BACKGROUND: In the original timeline, Dan Kenshimoto and Numi Yamazaki returned to Knothole in the midst of the Brotherhood's attack, and were among the few survivors who fought in both North City and Metropolis. Having had a rocky relationship prior to the events, they found themselves bonding more closely than ever, and eventually married in the Shelter. Several years later, they had a son named Ryuken, the first naturally born Hedgefox. Ryu began training with his father Dan at a young age, and became a formidable fighter in close range, but like his father and mother he could not muster enough super energy to be effective in ki combat. Easily-led, he found himself getting into frequent trouble by tagging along with his friend Hikki.
