BACKGROUND: Red was the 23rd genetic experiment of Dr. Wily's Project Red, which aimed to create a lifeform capable of destroying Mobius with bowel-created nuclear bombs. When Ash saved him from Wily's lab, Red saw the remains of the previous 22 experiments, all failures. Vowing a life of heorism, he tries to use his rather nasty ability for good.  Often, his attempts at this lead to catastrophic consequences, and the Korringwood crew repeatedly have no choice but to lock him away and wear nose plugs.  Due to this disgusting habit, he has suffered from very low self-esteem over the years, almost bringing him to the point of withdrawing from the world entirely.  Only the support from his friends has allowed him to adapt to life in the real world, and he has come to a point of true confidence, able to finally control his "gift" at will.  Upon meeting Ayu, he discovers an important piece that was missing from his life, and they gradually become closer and closer. And with the help of Akuma, Red discovers that he has the ability to inherit others' powers, having already inherited Ayu's Seiki as well as possibly inheriting something from Akuma himself.
